Madhav has been working at the intersection of the new economy and media for the past 15 years. He feels the time is right to build a content-led business driven by engagement. A business that serves the readers, not algorithms.

Madhav graduated with a business economics degree in 2008, and an MBA programme seemed to be the obvious next step. A news buff, Madhav thought about giving journalism a shot, joining VCCircle, a digital-media startup in Delhi, as one of its first employees.

Over the following six years, he became a core member of the team. He wrote on India’s young technology ecosystem and helped VCCircle scale up as one of the most successful media startups. (NewsCorp acquired it.) So, what was meant to be a career experiment became a calling.

In 2014, Madhav joined The Times Group, rising to the position of national editor in charge of covering startups, first at The Economic Times and then at The Times of India. While chronicling the ascent of Indian startups, he also got the opportunity to interview global tech CEOs such as Sundar Pichai, Reed Hastings, Brian Chesky and Jack Dorsey. He was also a part of the team that launched and ran ‘The ET Startup Awards’.

In 2021, he conceptualised and founded The CapTable, a subscription platform of YourStory, one of the largest and most well-funded new-media companies in India. He scaled The CapTable to over 100,000 readers in 18 months. At the same time, he also played a pivotal role at YourStory, helping build a strong editorial team.

Madhav believes that the time is right to challenge the conventions with which a digital media platform is built. With The Arc, he wants to build a platform for a large but niche audience of readers who work in industries shaped by technology.
